Grandparents Day 2016

It was great seeing different generations interact in school during Grandparents Day! The event started with a Continental Breakfast, followed by grandmas and grandpas taking a school tour...

During Jewish Studies, the 3rd graders and their grandparents worked together to decorate frames containing a blessing for grandchildren with markers and silk flowers...

Next, we enjoyed  a yummy lunch of bagels, sandwich wraps, salads, soup, cupcakes, and cookies...

After lunch we began General Studies by making "Then and Now" charts with our special visitors. Students interviewed their grandparents to find out their favorite food, game, sport, book, movie, music, and school subject when they were a child and compared the responses with their own...

After decorating the posters with markers and sequins it was then time for a game of Family Bingo. Words on the Bingo boards were related to families so the class got to learn how to say grandmother and grandfather in different languages as well as the meaning of words such as maternal and paternal.

On a random note, here's our food chains displayed on the science spot bulletin board. It required an entire box of staples, but the results were worth it!

Thanks to all the grandparents who took the time to visit and wishing you a relaxing, happy weekend!
