Then, our poets composed their own poems. Our first project was creating biography poems, complete with paper plate self-portraits. To celebrate the arrival of Fall, students created "Fall is..." poems that they mounted on leaf patterns they painted...
Other poems we created were color sensory poems...
"I Wish" list poems that began with this bubble map...
and "Ouch!" list poems that we wrote on Band-Aid patterns...
Some of the poetry activities are available in my poetry packet, Poetry Palooza , in my TPT store for any educators interested.
Also, just a reminder that Back to School Night is October 13th. Hope to see you there!
Happy learning!
I see a lot of new words for myself to learn! Can't wait to see the classroom!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing you Back to School Night!
DeleteI love the unit title! I really enjoy seeing all the creative ways different forms of poetry are being explored.
ReplyDeleteI think the kids' favorite was the bubblegum poems...but, I'm also pretty sure the balloons had something to do with that ; )
