Multiplication Mavericks at Work!

Our 3rd grade multiplication mavericks have been hard at work learning the times tables and how to solve single and double digit multiplication problems in a variety of ways! Some of them included a snowman craftivity where students brainstormed what factors equaled the product on their snowman's hat...
rolling a giant dice and multiplying the double digit numbers it landed on...
spinning a number wheel and multiplying the numbers we landed on...
and playing a multiplication mitten match game...

We've also been hard at work building our understanding of cause and effect, which will strengthen our reading comprehension skills. After reading A Bad Case of Stripes, by David Shannon, we wrote cause and effect statement on a graphic organizer...
and classified statements on the main character's velcro "hairbows" as a cause or effect and then placed them on the correct side of the character...

Finally, our fun loving teachers got into the Chanukah spirit by dressing in festive wear, which the students got a kick out of! We've been enjoying playing dreidel, eating chocolate gelt and sufganiyot, lighting the giant school menorah, and watching 2 assemblies. The festivities will continue next week, cumulating with our Chanukah Fair!

   Happy learning!
