May Scoop

Lots of blooming has been going on both outside and inside our classroom this month. We just completed our geometry unit in math. It began with students using toothpicks, circle stickers, and markers to create models of special lines and angles...

We then  reviewed lines and angles by finding partners with pictures matching math term cards...

Other activities included making Types of Triangles flipbooks, a polygon classification chart, and a 3D shapes chart. Finally, we reviewed for our geometry test by playing Geometry Bingo...

In language arts we've begun our pronoun unit. First, we learned that pronouns are nouns in disguise that can be personal, possessive, or indefinite...

The class filled in bubble letters spelling PRONOUN with pronouns they thought of. Next, we played "Pronoun Pockets". Students identified the nouns in sentences written on index cards, replaced the noun with the correct pronoun, and placed the card in the correct pocket...

In reading, we completed reading The Transcontinental Railroad and began Coolies, a story about 2 brothers, Shek and Wong, who immigrate to California and their experience working on building the transcontinental railroad, including discrimination they face for being Chinese. Students will be creating a story element lantern when we complete the book

Wishing everyone a great week!
